The terms governing use of Barlin Games: accounts, acceptable use, what you submit, third-party game content, advertising and liability.

These terms cover your use of Barlin Games. They are written against what the site actually offers: free access to a games directory and editorial coverage, an optional account, and advertising that pays for it.
Acceptance of these terms
By using barlingames.com you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please stop using the site. We update them from time to time; the version on this page is the one that applies, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated version. Material changes will be visible here rather than announced quietly.
Who may use the site
Anyone may read Barlin Games. It is not directed at children, and accounts are not intended for them. If you create an account you confirm the details you give are accurate and that you are old enough to do so where you live.
Barlin Games publishes a directory of video games, the companies and creators behind them, the platforms, genres and engines they belong to, and editorial articles — news, reviews, guides, previews and opinion.
All of it is free. There is no paywall, no metered limit and no signup wall, and there is nothing on this site to buy: no subscriptions, no purchases, no payment of any kind is taken.
An account is optional; everything published here can be read without one. If you create one:
- You sign in with an email address and a password. There is no sign-in through Facebook, Google, GitHub or Apple on this site.
- You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity under your account.
- Your profile details are optional and yours to edit or remove at any time.
- We may suspend or close an account that is used to abuse the site, other users, or these terms. You may ask us to close yours at any time.
Use the site as a reader would. Specifically, do not:
- attempt to break, overload, probe or gain unauthorised access to the site, its accounts or its infrastructure;
- scrape or bulk-download the content, or reproduce the directory as your own;
- submit anything unlawful, abusive, misleading, or infringing someone else's rights through the contact form, issue reports or any other submission route;
- use automated means to create accounts or submit forms;
- interfere with or attempt to circumvent advertising, security or consent mechanisms in a way that damages the service for others.
Reading the site with an ad blocker is not a breach of these terms. Advertising is how the site is funded and whitelisting is appreciated, but it is your choice.
When you send us a message, report an issue, subscribe to the newsletter or — where it is available — leave a comment, you keep ownership of what you wrote. You give Barlin Games permission to store it, act on it, and where it is a public contribution such as a comment, to display it on the site.
Please do not send confidential information through these forms. We may remove or decline to publish any submission, and we may edit a public contribution for length or clarity. What happens to the personal data in a submission is set out in the Privacy Policy.
Our content
The editorial writing, page structure, layout and the Barlin Games name and branding belong to Barlin Games. You are welcome to quote a short extract with a link back for review, discussion or reporting. Republishing whole articles, or reproducing the directory, is not permitted without permission.
Game titles, cover art, screenshots, trailers, studio names and logos belong to their respective owners and appear here for identification, commentary and review. Barlin Games is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any game publisher, developer or platform holder, and nothing on the site should be read as suggesting otherwise. See the Disclaimer, and the DMCA Policy if you hold rights in something published here.
Links to other sites are provided for convenience. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content.
Advertising
The site carries advertising through Google AdSense, which is what keeps access free. Ads are selected by Google, not by us. An advertisement appearing on Barlin Games is not an endorsement of the advertiser or its product, and we are not party to any dealings you have with an advertiser. Which advertising cookies are set, and when, is covered by the Cookies Policy.
Availability
The site is provided as it is. We do not promise it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free, and we may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it — including features and published entries — without notice.
Accuracy
We take care with what we publish, but release dates change, credits get missed, studios restructure and scores are opinions. Nothing here is professional advice, and you should not rely on it as your only source for a decision. Corrections are welcome through the issue form. This is expanded on in the Disclaimer.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Barlin Games is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost data, or loss arising from your reliance on information published here or from any dealing with an advertiser or linked site. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Termination
We may withdraw access if these terms are breached. The sections on our content, third-party trademarks, liability and governing law continue to apply after access ends.
Governing law
Barlin Games has not yet published the jurisdiction whose law governs these terms or where disputes would be heard. This section will name it once it is settled; until then, nothing here should be taken as a choice of law or venue.
